Nicholas A. Norman for Isla Vista Recreation & Park District

Isla Vista Recreation & Park District will hold its signature holiday lighting event, Lights, Love, & Community, 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at Estero Park, 889 Camino Del Sur.

The free event kicks off the month-long lighting of the St. George Youth and Teen Center, Honorary Holiday Tree at Estero Park, IV Rec & Park District Office, Little Acorn, and Anisq’Oyo park.

The above locations will be illuminated Tuesday Dec. 3-Jan. 3.

Lights, Love, and Community is a multi-generational annual event hosted by IVRPD that features live music by Mariachi Mexicanismo, paper snowflake making for kids and adults, plus a gingerbread house-making competition featuring grand prizes.

IVRPD thanks the Isla Vista Community Relations Committee and the UCSB Community Affairs Board for sponsoring this event. A special thanks goes out to the St. George Youth Center for their role as co-host and event collaborator.

Guests can bring lawn chairs, blankets, personal lanterns or headlights. Festive clothing and costumes are encouraged. Seating at tables and chairs limited to first come first served. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted.
