Isla Vista Recreation & Park District (IVRPD) is partnering with Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD) to co-host a post-Deltopia community cleanup event 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, April 7.

Powered by Adopt-A-Block and IV Beautiful litter abatement programs, the event will be coordinated from two key sites: IVRPD District Office, 961 Embarcadero del Mar, and Window to the Sea Park, 6691 Del Playa.

Both sites will hold sign-ins, volunteer orientations, and sorting and dumping. The focus of the cleanup will be on recycling, so volunteers will be instructed on what can and cannot be recycled.

“The Isla Vista Recreation and Park District is a leader in making Isla Vista a vibrant and welcoming community for all,” said Second District County Supervisor Laura Capps.

“My thanks to IVRPD, IVCSD and UCSB’s EVPLA for their partnership to make this important clean-up event happen. I encourage the public to volunteer in the cleanup this Sunday,” she said.

“Volunteering is a great way to take action and accountability, there is no app for picking up trash, this offers a solution to the environmental impact that unsanctioned events like Deltopia poses,” said IVRPD general manager Kimberly Kiefer.

“We are very grateful for Goleta West Sanitary Districts’ commitment to Adopt a Block program within our district,” Kiefer said.

“The IVCSD is proud to support IVRPD’s Deltopia Clean Up event this year as a way to keep Isla Vista beautiful and free of litter,” said Jonathan Abboud, Isla Vista Community Services District general manager.
